Jules Flandrin important oil on canvas, signed and dated 1912, Landscape of Dauphiné with beautiful carved wooden frame. Dimensions with frame 112 x 94 cm Old label on the back: Galerie Druet 20 rue Royale Paris "Jules Flandrin - Dauphiné - N° 9062". This gallery was founded in 1903 by Eugène Druet who was previously Rodin's photographer. His gallery had among its clientele wealthy collectors such as Ivan Morosov. Druet presented many important artists, including: Charles Camoin, Odillon Redon, Camille Manzana-Pissarro, Albert Marquet, Maurice Denis, Paul Cezanne, Léon Lehmann.... After the death of Eugène Druet, the gallery was managed by his wife until it closed in 1938. This work by Flandrin was probably presented at the exhibition dedicated to this artist which took place at the Galerie Druet from December 1 to 13, 1913, paintings by Flandrin were also present at the group exhibition, which took place in the same gallery, from February 9 to 21, 1914, alongside works by Marquet, Rouault, Dufresnoy, Marval and Guerin. Jules Léon Flandrin is a French painter (1871-1947) born in Corenc, not far from Grenoble. Student of Gustave Moreau at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, in the "Fauves" class, alongside Marquet and Matisse. He exhibited from 1897 at the Salon du Champs de Mars, then participated in numerous international exhibitions in England, Germany and Switzerland. He became, at a very young age, a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts, then a member of the Salon d'Automne, he was also at the beginning of his career the companion of the artist Jacqueline Marval. He was awarded the Legion of Honor, his works appear in the collections of several French museums, notably in Grenoble, Beauvais, Le Havre, Chambéry and Gray but also abroad in Japan and the United States.
