Object description :

"Oratory Niche - Ode To The Education Of The Virgin - 18th Century "
A charming 18th century baroque work, with finely carved, gilded and polychromed arabesque uprights. The background, opaque with time, depicts a scene where a martyr saint, most likely Saint John of Nepomuk, is thrown from the Charles Bridge in Prague in 1393.
Our niche receives a statuette, carved in the round, in gilded wood. Saint Anne seated, teaches her daughter the young Mary. It is placed on a wooden terrace painted with marble decorations. Used condition, the reglued canopy is topped with a fire pot.
It remains fragile and would deserve to be consolidated. Some lack of gilding.
Dimensions of 70 cm high by 31 wide and 18 cm deep
