Fortuné CAR 1905 / 1970:
Fortuné Car was born in 1905 in Marseille and died in 1970. Famous Provencal artist, born into a family where painting is passed down from generation to generation. In the 1930s, he took over the workshop of his uncle, a theater designer. This vast workshop will allow him to create decorations, he then turns to easel painting.
He will very quickly find his way in the vein of Provencal painting, with his scenes of fishermen. His strong and colorful painting enriched with a beautiful material born from his mastery of the brush and especially the knife.
His image as a painter of Provence was exported in particular to Canada where he was a member of the Royal Academy of Painting in Montreal.
