An ivory netsuke depicting a snake crossing a skull. The reptile insinuates itself into the lower part of the skull, crossing it with a sinuous movement and emerging from the empty orbit of one eye, then wrapping itself around the forehead, where it rests in a threatening pose, stopping near the other eyehole.
Period: Meiji late 19th century.
Dimensions: 3.8 x 2.5 x 2.8 cm.
