"Japan- Noh Theater Mask "
Noh Theater Mask - JAPAN in wood and pigments, sulphide eyes. Meji era (1868-1912)

Noh theatre masks can be divided into three main families: humans, men and women; ghosts and spirits; and demons, supernatural presences. Demon or Kishin masks are recognisable by their red skin and golden eyes, as on this mask.
Kishin (demon) masks are used to represent two main types of otherworldly creature: tobide (fierce gods or demonic spirits) and beshimi (goblins and other creatures).
