Object description :

"Louis XV/louis XVI Transition Style Chiseled And Gilded Bronze Alcove Wall Light"
Splendid alcove wall-mounted cartel in chased and gilded bronze, in the Louis XV/Louis XVI Transition style, finely inspired by the models of Jean-Baptiste Osmond. This masterpiece of 19th-century Parisian goldsmithing (Napoleon III period) presents remarkable elegance and finesse, demonstrating exceptional craftsmanship. With its curved shape, this cartel is distinguished by its rich neoclassical ornamentation: falling laurel garlands, delicate projections, acanthus leaves, refined interlacing, burst pomegranates, undulating foliage and delicate gadroons. The sound ears and the facade are enhanced with a gilded brass queen marquetry, adding a touch of sophistication. Topped with an antique vase with a covered pot and resting on a large base decorated with acanthus leaves and a seed button, this cartel displays a timeless aesthetic. The circular dial in white enamel indicates the hours in black Arabic numerals and the minutes in increments of fifteen in red Arabic numerals and a path of dots, underlined by two chiseled, engraved, matte and gilded copper hands. Protected by a molded bezel and a domed glass, it offers perfect readability. The state of conservation is exceptional. The chiseling is of remarkable quality, and the original mercury gilding, in matte and shiny tones, gives the whole an incomparable shine. The clock movement, signed Vincenti (silver medal 1855), is complete and works perfectly. This entirely original wall cartel is a living testimony to the refinement and know-how of 19th century Parisian bronziers. It will find its place in a classic or contemporary interior in search of an exceptional piece.
