French School – Nativity – Oil On Canvas – 17th Century.

Beautiful nativity scene, with a powerful chiaroscuro effect. The light diffuses in a beam from the left of the scene and envelops the dove of the Holy Spirit. It illuminates the Virgin and the Child Jesus, located in the center of the painting. Behind them we can see the ox and the donkey.
To the right of the Virgin, stands a shepherd carrying a lamb as an offering. Another sheep stands at the bottom right.
The left part is occupied by a group of characters who have come to pay homage to the child. An angel holding a phylactery stands at the top right.

This old painting (17th century) is in good condition: it is clean and without tears. Some elements have faded over time but are nevertheless visible. The work has been the subject of an old relining (19th century).
It is offered in a gilded stuccoed frame, from the 19th century, in very good condition.
