Seal Of Abbey Of St Jean De La Castelle, 17th Century, Superb Object

Thumb seal, oval-shaped, of good size, from engraved brass, its handle embedded in the slot of a powerful turned boxwood handle, and held by an iron peg, making it solid and indestructible.
Beautiful central coat of arms, topped with crosier and miter of the Father Abbot, superior of the monastery, Le Castella and its towers, surrounded by branches, and crowned of a rotating inscription: FPD LOMPAGIEU AB.SIDE. CAStella.
Pierre de Lompagieu was Abbot of this beautiful Abbey twice during 17th century, see documents, and discover its architectural beauty still visible… Good format: 7cm x 5cm for boxwood handle, … seal: 3cm x 2.5cm.
