"Empire Fireplace In Blue Turquin Marble"
A striking fireplace from the Empire period, dating from the beginning of the 19th century, ca.1815, made out of Bleu Turquin marble. Adorned with fine quality bronze detailing, like Palmettes and Rosettes. Tapering jambs with Cariatides are supporting the double moulded shelf. Sculptures of great finesse of execution. The Bleu Turquin marble is used since classical times, particularly popular as material for Empire sculptures, furniture and fireplaces, due to its softines, strength, elégance and air of luxury. The word 'marble' means 'Cristalline Rock': Shining Stone. Light is able to penetrate milimeters into the marble, producing that characteristic 'glow', that seems to give life to the surface of the marble. Fireplace can be delivered with an Empire fireback and/or Empire foyer-tiles, to finish the interior. Worldwide shipping. Delivery in Europe can be done by Antique Fireplaces First: 'In House Delivery'.
