Beautiful Corozo Snuffbox, Lovers' Work, Dog, Doves And Altar Of Love, Early 19th C

Very pretty, oval-shaped, and of quality, here is a snuffbox, finely carved in a Corozo nut. The small, hinged lid is decorated with a dog (symbolizing fidelity), in a wooded landscape, at the foot of the altar of love. The body is carved with foliage and flower scrolls, and the back, in a central medallion, with two doves kissing in a decoration of garlands of leaves, flowers and fruits.
Excellent condition. No break or flaw. Even hard to see some wear.
European working, probably made by a sailor, dating from the first part of the 19th century, Circa 1820-1840.
