Depicting a woman wearing a lace headdress, a long chatelaine around her neck holding a gold watch, a key and a . She is writing an account book on which we can read the status of the supplies and works of a construction in progress. Maurice Mouton was a renowned pastellist, we find him here in the meticulousness of the details: at the level of the lace, the folds and reflections of the dress and the realism of the precious stone jewels. This pastel is signed by the artist at the top right, located in Besançon and dated 1835.
