"Shelving Unit In The Style Of Gabriel Viardot."
Japanese-style furniture with four sides, in the manner of Viardot. It consists of four superimposed shelves, with curved edges. The two, located in the center, are joined by two rotating rollers, thus revealing a climbing dragon. Eight other dragons, also in gilded bronze, support three shelves. The four uprights, slightly fluted, delimit the whole which rests on feet in the shape of curved bamboo. Friezes and "cabochons", in gilded bronze and with a Japanese motif, highlight the edges of the shelves as well as the uprights. Beautiful work from the end of the 19th century, responding to the fashion for Far Eastern exoticism, very well represented by the Parisian cabinetmaker Gabriel Viardot.
