1950s Italian Wooden Double Bed Headboard Hand-Painted With Shell and Foliate Scrolls. Handcrafted from fir wood, this antique double headboard is a softly shaped panel, 170 cm high and 180 cm wide, ideal for a double bed, with two side uprights and a pierced carving that enhances the polychrome decoration. This antique Italian bedhead dates back to mid 20th Century, is richly hand-painted with vegetal elements, scrolls, acanthus leaves surmounting and enclosing the central shell. It is a work by an Italian decorator from the second half of 20th century, who painted this headboard with very warm tone colours, we find the blue of the central shell, ochre, Naples red, light green, delicate and pastel nuoances.
It comes from a private collection in Lombardy and is in good condition, with signs of wear consistent with use. On the back side, there are two holes for hanging the headboard on the wall.
