" Isfahan Carpet, Persian Hunting Scene In Wool And Silk"
This rare and very fine Isfahan carpet, probably imperial, dates from the 1960s-1965s. With an impressive density of 10,000 to 11,000 knots per dm², it is woven with selected lamb's wool kork velvet and silk foundations. Its ivory field illustrates a Persian hunting scene inspired by miniatures from the 16th and 17th centuries under the Safavid dynasty of Shah Abbas I. The work features a fantastic animal on the left, a wolf attacking prey on the right, surrounded by flowering trees of life and birds in flight on the top of the carpet. This rich pattern symbolizes the opposition of good and evil, with an elegant harmony accentuated by the refined borders, the main one of which recalls the central decoration with its sand hues. A carpet of great poetry and originality, combining beauty and symbolic depth.
