"Pair Of Empire-style Candelabra"
Very fine pair of Empire-style burnished bronze candelabra. Two female figures, resting on a block also in bronze, hold the intricate structure of the torches on their heads in the style of caryatids. The rich decorative apparatus of the torches includes four of them supported by cornucopias and satyr heads, while the remaining ones are held by four putti arranged at the cardinal points. In the upper register, the bronze support is decorated with two fish with the heads of sea monsters, while in the center there is a Cupid positioned between two tamed lions. The lower register and the base are decorated with shell motifs.
