Brass candlestick with engraved decoration of a courtly scene on the intermediate knot with figures, some crowned, one wearing wings, another appearing to be stroking a lion, etc.
Qajar Iran, 19th century brass, beautiful engraved candlestick surmounted by a strong pierced bollard which extends into a long shaft with an inverted cup and interspersed knots to flare out towards the base and form a large hollow circular cup with a raised, scalloped rim.
Engraved decoration of compartments alternating plant and floral compositions, geometric frieze motifs, cartouches with Persian poetic inscriptions in nasta'liq calligraphy on the rim and a very fine series of scenes with animated characters all around the intermediate dish.
