"Important Louis XIV Style Inkwell, Early 19th Century "
Important rectangular inkwell in rosewood veneer and gilded bronze from the early 19th century. The top inlaid with rosewood in cross-grain is highlighted by gilded bronze moldings decorated with delicately chiseled leafy florets. Important base formed by leafy scrolls in gilded bronze bringing together four finely chiseled female masks arranged in the center of each side. Original mercury gilding in very good condition cleaned by our workshop (slight wear and chips on the glass of an inkwell) Mounted in oak. Beautifully crafted Louis XIV style work dating from the early 19th century.
