Philibert Léon COUTURIER was born in 1823 in Chalon-sur Saône and died in 1901 The farmyard, oil on panel 40 x 24 cm without frame and 53 x 39 cm A pupil of Picot, he entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1844. He is the painter of farmyards, an excellent draftsman, he gives his roosters and guinea fowl a certain character with strong colors. He also likes to paint genre scenes and portraits. His paintings are present in many museums. He is the author of brochures on Millet and Corot. Museums: Montpellier, Nice, Reims, Chalon, Saint-Quentin
