Object description :

"Portico XVIIIème Era Louis XVI 1780"
Rare pendulum clock from its Louis XVI period around 1780 of the 18th century, at this time more common in portico architecture than with people. This clock is referenced in one of the most famous works: "Encyclopédie de la pendule française, Kjellberg". Perfect authenticity in a remarkable state of conservation.

White marble clock, scene in gilded bronze with mercury and gold composed of a cherub descending from a cloud of clouds offering a dove to a young draped woman leaning on a drapery. In the center is the domed dial in white enamel accompanied by finely worked gilded hands, protected by a bezel set with domed glass.

Richly worked rectangular base set with a chiseled bronze outline of foliage, a ribboned trophy including a torch and a quiver. The whole rests on four clawed feet connected by draperies.

Original mechanism without modification, wire suspension, hour and half-hour strike on old bell.
