Superb pair of Art Deco bookends in bronze with green patina on marble bases.
Dimensions of the subjects: H. 112 – W. 105 – D. 85 – Height with base: 152 mm. – Weight: 1.890 kg per bookend.
Models signed with a point on the bases.
Label of a reseller stuck on one of the bases “L. Merle & Fils Joailliers-Orfèvres – Saumur”.
Micro-chips on the edges of the bases, very good condition otherwise.
Oscar WALDMANN (1856-1937), animal sculptor of Swiss origin.
We have already come across a similar model in bronze with a silver patina, but signed on the base "A. Kelety" for Alexandre Kelety, which of the two is the creator of the model, we cannot say.
