"Olive trees in Falicon"

Mixed media on cardboard,
Signed lower left,
Located and dated on the back of the cardboard: "Falicon - 1949",

Beautiful luminous work by the painter and sportsman from Lyon, Emile Wegelin, which represents a view of a corner of the village of Falicon in summer on the heights of Nice.
As usual, the artist uses a palette of warm colors and plays on the play of light.
Falicon is a Provencal village perched in the Alpes-Maritimes, on one of the hills overlooking the city of Nice. It is located between Aspremont, Saint André de la Roche and Tourette-Levens.

Wegelin began his artistic career by taking courses at the School of Fine Arts in Lyon, where he trained in the art of painting. He quickly specialized in landscapes, and more particularly mountain views, countryside scenes and seascapes.
Émile Wegelin's style is characterized by a great sensitivity to nature, which is reflected in a palette of soft and nuanced colors. His paintings are imbued with a deep sense of harmony with nature, which invites the viewer to contemplation and meditation.
He participated in exhibitions in Paris, Lyon and Marseille, where his talent was praised by critics and appreciated by the public.
In parallel with his artistic career, Emile Wegelin was a rower and member of the Club Nautique de Lyon.
He competed with his teammates in the coxed four event at the 1900 Summer Olympics in Paris and won the silver medal.

Dimensions: 33 x 46 cm without frame and 44 x 57 cm with its gilded wooden frame.

This work can form a pendant with the artist's second work for sale.
