Small work table or coffee table in thuya burl marquetry inlaid with porcelain plaques representing a bouquet of flowers. Very precious work by Maison Tahan and the marquetry artist Julien-Nicolas RIVART (1802-1867). He is the inventor of the porcelain marquetry technique, a unique process, long researched and patented in 1849, which he was then the only one to master. This process was presented at the Universal Exhibition of 1849 then at those of 1851, 1855 and 1867, this technique is described as a "delicious process", "even more beautiful than beautiful", and receives the compliments of Emperor Napoleon III. Our table is decorated with brass threads. It opens with a flap revealing a mirror and storage. A drawer in the belt. Perfect condition, french polish.
