Representing a view of Rouen painted in 1922.
Frank-Will, 1900-1950, signed by Frank William Boggs, son of the painter Frank Myers Boggs (Frank-Boggs, 1855-1926). If he takes up the paternal torch as regards the style of his Parisian views, his personal touch, as on our painting, is closer to that of his best friend Gen-Paul with whom he worked and even signed paintings with 4 hands. His vacations in the 1920s and 1930s are known and allow the dating of certain works: Normandy (among others Rouen and Honfleur) in 1922, La Rochelle in 1926, Amiens in 1929, Barfleur in 1930. Constituting one of the high Montmartre figures mentioned by Francis Carco, he spent without counting, squandering his parental inheritance and resources on general tours in taverns and cabarets. A musician, he was part of jazz orchestras, then of the La Chignole fanfare with Gen Paul and Marcel Aymé, all the while getting into debt and destroying his health in alcoholic parties. In 1950, he was knocked down by a bus on Place de l'Opéra. Weakened by alcohol, neglecting medical care, he was operated on December 29, 1950 for a partial removal of his right lung. This one goes badly and he dies the same day. He rests with Frank and Joséphine Boggs, in the family vault at the Père-Lachaise cemetery. Artist listed in Bénézit, Coté Artprice, Artnet, Akoun, etc...
