"18th Century Italian Hand-carved Polychrome Gilt Holy Water Font"
From Italy, Marche central region,
a polychrome carved holy water font mid-18th century, a shaped panel with carved and gilt scrolls and acanthus leaf details. A green edge decoration. The central font consists of three ribbed leaves with green color and gold decoration. The font is topped by an oval frame with a Holy Family engraving.
The bottom of the panel is lacquered in green and red with a yellowish patina due to sandracca.
The back is lined with green paper with paper cutouts with hand-painted watercolor flowers.
This antique Italian holy water font comes from the Marche region and dates back to 1750 circa. It is in a good age related conditions with minor restorations.
