Painter Ivan Albertovitch Pugni known as Jean Pougny painter born in Finland in 1890 (Russian Empire) died in Paris in 1956 Franco-Russian. First exhibition in Petrograd in 1915, the Futurist exhibition presents artists known under the name "cubo futurists". In 1919 he went into exile in Berlin first then in Paris in 1924 where he Frenchified his name. In April 1925 he organized a retrospective at the Barbazanges gallery, he was part of the Russian painters of the Paris school. In the 1940s/1950s he painted intimate canvases in the style of Edouard Vuillard. This very pretty painting full of charm represents the banks of the Seine with Notre Dame in the distance, signature at the bottom right, countersigned on the back and dated 1941. Original frame.
