Very important Secretary of very high quality, in red-brown lacquer decorated with chinoiserie motifs by the great French cabinetmaker Jacques Dubois. Jacques Dubois (1694-1763) was a renowned cabinetmaker of the Louis XV period. An expert in veneer, marquetry and a specialist in lacquer and varnish, he made furniture in the Rococo style. He is best known for creating furniture decorated with panels of Chinese and Japanese lacquer, as well as Vernis Martin. Jacques Dubois often collaborated with his fellow artisans, such as Pierre IV Migeon. Later, he became the royal cabinetmaker, producing furniture for figures such as the Duke of Orleans, the Duchess of Parma and the French nobility. Jacques Dubois' signature mark reads "IDUBOIS
