Rare and charming almanac bound in red morocco, dating from 1779, a precious witness to the popular knowledge of the time.
This work, intended for shepherds, offers much more than the times of sunrise and sunset. It compiles religious and astrological predictions as well as practical advice, such as the right times to practice bloodletting, take remedies, purge oneself, bathe, or cut nails and hair.
The particularity of this almanac lies in the ingenious use of pictograms, thus facilitating reading while addressing a cultured public.
Contrary to popular belief, it was not exclusively intended for illiterate people, but for all those who lived in harmony with natural rhythms.
