This painter is mentioned in the reference work "Belgian visual artists from the 19th to the 21st century" by Paul Piron. Hilaire Bals is a Belgian artist born in 1940 in Nieuwkerken-Waas. He is an excellent painter and draftsman. Drawing training at the Academy of Saint-Nicolas with Marcel Mutsaerts and Raf Coorevits (1973-1978). Self-taught in oil painting. Fine painter of still lifes, flowers, portraits, nudes and playful farm scenes with poultry and sometimes (winter) landscapes. Works in the design of the old Flemish masters, where the purity of the lines and the subtlety of the colors are striking. Lokeren City Prize in 1975 and 1979, Breda Bank Prize in 1977.
