Set Of 4 Armchairs Stamped By Delanois

Beautiful set of 4 armchairs with Queen's backs.

Resting on 4 arched legs, carved with foliage at the end of the legs and with leafy cartouches on the shoulders, they have sinuous belts and carved on the front with a very beautiful and fine shell. We find this shell in the upper crosspiece of the back. Note this very beautiful back attachment, characteristic of Delanois.

These 4 armchairs are upholstered in 18th century petit point tapestry, framed by a 19th century upholstered assembly.

Very good condition of woodwork; old restorations to the tapestries.

Formerly lacquered, 3 seats are stamped Louis Delanois (1731-1792), received master on July 27, 1761. This great master carpenter of the 18th century produced both Louis XV and Louis XVI seats, all of which demonstrate a talent of the first order. He worked for the Count of Artois, the Prince of Condé, the Duke of Chartres, the King of Poland Stanislas II, for wealthy collectors and especially for the Countess of Barry. The most numerous Louis XV models, whether of classical manufacture or commissioned, reveal the skill and taste of the manufacturer and his collaborators. Ample proportions, structures that are both powerful and supple, elegantly undulating lines, with vigorously whip-shaped armrest consoles that harmoniously connect to the belt, thus appears a whole series of bergères and armchairs, mainly armchairs à la reine.
