Presented in a sober molded and blackened wooden frame
Overall dimensions: 60 x 75 cm. The panel alone: 45 x 61 cm
Our painting represents a winter landscape with a cottage on the edge of a frozen river, surrounded by large bare trees.
In front, two villagers are making bundles of wood that they load onto a small sled.
A little further away, a windmill near a small town and skaters.
Our painting is a work of the Dutch painter Andries Vermeulen born in Dordrecht in 1763. A pupil of his father, Cornelis Vermeulen. He was mainly a landscape painter. He worked for a while in Amsterdam, where he died in 1814.
Winter scenes reached their peak in the Dutch Golden Age. Focusing on representations of snow and cold. The success of these winter scenes is such that a real imagery will be created by a good number of painters.
Very beautiful state of conservation. Sold with invoice & certificate.
