" European School (xix) - The Parnase"
- Oil on canvas. - Complex composition of mythological inspiration full of allegories. In the foreground, the artist demonstrates his expertise by erecting a magnificent vase on the marble base, while in the background, the Nine Muses dance next to a Corinthian loggia. A magnificent temple rises on the hill that closes the horizon. Probably a French painting by its origin, however the theme is clearly Germanic. The German world was infected, parallel to the Romantic Revolution, with a great affection for the restoration of the Greek ideal, and it is inevitable to compare this superb painting with the works of the Saxon architect and painter, although Bavarian by adoption, Leo von Klenze. - Dimensions of the image without frame: 110 x 81 cm / 119 x 90 cm with magnificent framing. - From a private collection of paintings in Bordeaux. - Good general condition.
