Beautiful and moving scene of Mary, Jesus and John the Baptist as children, late 17th century, in a depiction of gentle simplicity in a slightly evocative biblical setting, of Mary crowned, lifting a veil under which Jesus was sleeping and offering it to John the Baptist holding a fine cross. In the top right-hand corner, we can see the representation of the heavenly Jerusalem of the 12 tribes of Israel, representing humanity.
The sincere naivety of each of the faces and the contrasting colours capture our attention with tenderness.
The beautiful 18th-century papier-mache cardboard frame, which has been quite common since the 16th century, is in very good condition.
