"Serif Renkgorur 1887-1947. Hagia Sophia Istanbul ~1935. Turkish Painter Turkey Constantinople"
Beautiful watercolor by SERIF RENKGORUR representing a lively view of Istanbul around 1930/1935, signed Serif at the bottom left. Size of the watercolor alone 24x30cm This is therefore a very beautiful watercolor by Serif representing a view of Istanbul where the artist paints a boat on the Golden Horn in front of the famous Saint Sophia mosque. As usual, his technique is impeccable, in a soft and pastel palette. SERIF RENKGORUR (1887-1947) was therefore a Turkish painter, specialized in watercolor, like his compatriot Nikolai Saraphanoff, another painter renowned for his views of Istanbul or Constantinople in watercolor. Like the latter, little is known about this Turkish artist. On the other hand, his works are highly prized and sought after on the market, some have achieved very good results at auctions up to almost €1000 This watercolor is in good condition, delivered in a modern frame Work guaranteed authentic
