"Enameled Gold Vinaigrettes, France 19th Century "
Two small vinaigrettes in gold and polychrome enamels, mounted as a pendant: one depicting Cupid with a bow and arrow, seated on a cloud; the other depicting Cupid with a bow and quiver, standing on a shell pulled by two doves in flight. The lid, opening, reveals inside a compartment closed by a small gold grid finely chiseled with openwork, decorated with a dense pattern of leafy scrolls. A similar naturalistic decoration also adorns the bottom of the two vinaigrettes.
Very fine example of French goldwork, dating from the Napoleon III period (eagle's head hallmark).
Very good general condition, with the exception of two light scratches barely perceptible on the face of Cupid on the cloud, and a slight restoration of the enamel on the edge of the other vinaigrette with Cupid on the shell pulled by doves.
Presented in a leather case with a red velvet interior.
