"Compartmentalized Lacquer Lunch Box, China, 19th Century"
Beautiful octagonal lacquer lunch box from China, dated 19th century. The top of the box lid shows a landscape with pagoda-type architecture, two cherry trees, a parasol pine, a bridge and in the distance a mountainous landscape. The box is decorated with gold-colored patterns on the sides (braids, vegetation, geometric). Inside it has 8 trapezoid-shaped compartments and an octagonal central compartment. The compartments are removable and red. The bottom matches the exterior color of the box.
Good general condition. Shows wear and tear on the decoration, cracks visible on 3 edges.
