"Very Rare Hermès "saumur" Square By Jacques Nam - Paris Circa 1938"
Circa 1938 France Very rare Hermès silk scarf entitled "Saumur" by Jacques Nam, from the only edition of 1938. Printed in silk twill with hand-rolled edges. This scarf, named after the town where the famous French cavalry school is located, illustrates the basics of horse riding through a series of captioned drawings. These stand out against a light but bright blue background, embellished with pink borders. A "Made in France" label in the lower right corner of the scarf, on the reverse, seems to indicate that this scarf was intended for export. A slight patina of the period, this scarf having been washed. No holes or major defects. Good overall condition of color and conservation. Dimensions: 84 cm x 84 cm Rating indicated Very rare and Very sought after in the Hermès square art book by Geneviève Fontan at ARFON 2017 on page 206.
