VAYSON (Paul). In front of the hearth. Dimensions: 317 x 233 mm + frame. Oil on canvas signed [Paul] Vayson in the lower left margin. ''Painter of rustic subjects and landscapes, born in Gardes (Vaucluse) in 1842 and died in Paris in 1911. He was a pupil of Gleyre and J. Laurens. And made his debut at the Salon of 1865. Member of the French Artists since 1883, gold medalist in 1889''. (in Bénézit). Presented in a frame; later but of fine workmanship. Bénézit X, Dictionary of painters, p. 414.
