"Large Pastel Paris The Grands Boulevards French School 1880"
Large pastel on paper depicting a scene from Parisian life, a Dandy crossing the grand boulevards at night with an impassive face in front of a group of women who one might imagine to be from a "bad life". Beautiful touch with a slight contrast and sometimes simply pencilled at the level of the faces which reinforces the vaporous atmosphere with the reflection of the lights on the wet pavement. Signed lower right (to be discovered). A few small creases without gravity, good general condition. French school circa 1880. Framed and glazed.
