"Pastel, Mythological Subject, “hebe The Goddess Of Youth And Zeus”, Late 19th Century."
Beautiful and fine pastel slightly enhanced with ink (notably in Hebe's hair). It was made after an engraving by Huet (François) known as Villiers-Huet, a genre painter born in Paris on January 14, 1772, died in London on July 28, 1813. Hebe is the goddess of eternal youth, she holds out a cup of ambrosia to Zeus who is represented on the left in the form of an eagle. Pastel made at the end of the 19th century, signed lower right R.Lavalette (spelling of the name to be confirmed). Please note: this pastel is in very good general condition. The red of the Marie-Louise is less intense with natural light; we have favored the realism of the rendering of the colors of the drawing. A few small spots on the Marie-Louise and a little pastel dust under the glass. Please look carefully at the photos.
