"Pair Of Italian Friezes 18th Century Blue Painted Carved Gilwood Wall Decorative Panels"
Pair of 1700s Italian Wall Decorative Panels, a pair of blue painted vertical frieze dating back to 18th century, with a stunning hand-carved gilded relief
candelabra decoration of Rinascimental taste. Made of lime wood, this pair of antique decorative friezes, rectangular and vertical architectural pieces were probably part of a liturgical decorative complex. Originally framed by frames now missing, as reveals the irregular, unfinished edges. The decorative candelabra relief motif is very classical, hand-carved by alternating love knots, fruit and grapes, gilded with an original gold-leaf gilding, highlighting the blue tempera-painted background. The two panels are in a good condition consistent with age and use, apart from some minor flaws in the gilding. They have a hook at the bottom top for hanging vertically. They come from a private villa in Milan. Northern Italy, 1700.
