"18th Century Wood Sculptures: Spring And Winter."
Pair of 18th century light wood sculptures, probably pine and probably German. Two figures are each on a stepped hexagonal base representing spring and winter from a series of the four seasons. The young woman represents spring; she is standing and moving, wears a flower crown and holds a flowerpot. The bearded man wearing a hat is sitting and seems to be putting his hand out, certainly above a firepot (missing) to warm himself; he represents winter. The few missing parts do not detract from the general appearance of these fine quality sculptures. H: 27cm W: 13cm
