Chambers: Paul Bell Chambers (United Kingdom, 1 April 1868 - London, 31 December 1930) was an English architect who did much of his work in Argentina, particularly for the Southern Railway. He studied at the Isle of Wight School of Art and the Art School of the Museum of Architecture in Westminster, London. He graduated as an architect and did his first works in his native country: schools, banks and institutes. He emigrated to Argentina and arrived in Buenos Aires in November 1896. Shortly after, Law No. 4416, which validated the university degrees of immigrants in the country, was passed, making Chambers a professional of Argentina. Paul Bell Chambers joined the Central Society of Architects (SCA) of Argentina in March 1904, and became its president three times (1908, 1909 and 1913). In March 1926, the architect left Argentina to return to his country, where he settled in London. The SCA symbolically appointed him its correspondent in the English capital, a position he held for the rest of his life. Chambers died there on December 31, 1930, at the age of 62.
