"Ironwork: Imposing And Heavy Key"
Ironwork: imposing and heavy key. The ring is decorated with two snakes joining towards the center, a male face on one side, and on the other a geometric shape to be precisely identified. The full rod leads us to the bit, the slit taking on a geometric shape that is not very recognizable. This key is surely the work of a skilled ironworker or blacksmith with these hands, but certainly not made to be used. Concerning the dating, although the patina seems to be old, I would cautiously lean more towards a work from the first half of the 20th century and not before. A beautiful collector's item for clavophiles or amateurs! Two other keys similar to this one for sale on my gallery.
