Authentic Bukhara Tekké with a timeless "elephant's foot" motif on a brick brown background with touches of beige, orange and blue. Two borders with a zoomorphic pattern of ram's horns frame a larger border composed of octagons, representing the Universe, and eight-pointed stars of Medes. Beautiful patina.
Located on the Silk Road, the city of Bukhara is an important center for collecting carpets including Turkmen and Uzbek tribes such as the Tekkés, Salors, Yomouths, Bashir. Nowadays, under this name, a number of pieces made by the tribes of the vast territory surrounding this city are gathered. A timeless design consisting of the gül motif is significant of this production. Arranged in rows, these designs are connected to each other by crosses or lines. There are many borders, which helps balance the carpet. Bukhara are tight carpets, most often on a red background. Despite their finesse, Bukhara are very resistant. Note: the gül pattern is called "elephant's foot".
The name Bukhara also refers to carpets decorated with gül from northeastern Iran (Khorasan tribe) to western Afghanistan (Beluche). A Pakistani name refers to a production of carpets using this pattern, without equaling its quality.
