Object description :

"Jean Billecocq (1902-1982) - Yellow Abstraction"
  • Large geometric abstraction by the "Nantais" painter Jean Billecocq.
  • Oil on canvas signed lower right In very good condition.
  • Dimensions: 64 x 76 cm with frame, 52 x 64 without.
  • "Born on September 29, 1902 in Versailles, in a family of magistrates and lawyers, Jean Billecocq deviated from the family tradition by moving towards agriculture. An agricultural engineer, his training and his love of nature led him in 1928 to manage a farm near Blois. It was from 1948 that he felt the need to paint. Four years later, shortly after his arrival in Nantes, his meeting with Louis Ferrant, professor at the School of Fine Arts, was decisive. Jean Billecocq found in Louis Ferrant an advisor and a friend who led him towards an artistic approach based on reflection. Sincerity and effort. Thus emerged in a sort of freely accepted rigor the form of expression which remained his, a painting remaining quite close to nature marked however by a tendency towards geometry and space.
