Painting panel on wood representing the French cuirassiers charging on the British squares during the Battle of Waterloo. Signed Eugène Louis Charpentier (1811-1890) Very beautiful period gilded wooden frame. Painting on view: L 40 cm / H 28 cm A student of François Gérard and Léon Cogniet, he is known mainly for battle scenes, most of which are kept at the Palace of Versailles. He is also responsible for portraits, the most famous of which is that of George Sand (1839). He died in 1890 in Paris and is buried in the Montparnasse cemetery.
