Object description :

"Jp Bibron: Superb Set Of Four Salt Cellars From The Empire Period, 2nd Cockerel. Winged Women. 19th Century"
Magnificent set of four salt cellars from the Empire period.

The salt cellars rest on three lion paw feet topped with winged women's terms supporting a frieze of palmettes.

The quality of the half-human - half-animal figures is remarkable, the wings are finely detailed, as are the faces

The interiors are in channel-cut glass. One of them is thicker, it is probably later.

The salt cellars are hallmarked:
. 2nd rooster hallmark 1st title for 950 silver in Paris between 1809 and 1819
. Minerva's head hallmark of average guarantee for the same period
. Goldsmith's hallmark: JPB with a lion and a star for Jean Pierre Bibron, active from 1798

. Later crab hallmark
. Minerva's head hallmark after 1838

A magnificent set of salt cellars with a superb, remarkably executed decoration, in the pure imperial style of the early 19th century.
