Mixed media 34x43 cm "Saint George and the dragon" Around 1930
Signed lower left
Born in Mostar, Uzélac trained at the School of Fine Arts in Prague, before coming to France. Close to the School of Paris, he exhibited from 1922 in the great Parisian Salons, as well as throughout Europe.
He enjoyed great success with themes of sport and modern life and with large wall decorations in Deauville, Chamonix...
Saint George and the dragon is characteristic of his work, influenced by both Cubism and Expressionism, close to Art Deco, giving off a power and a dynamic, as much by the strength of the composition as by the richness of the colors.
