"Lacquered Painting On Panel Mario Vargas"
Mario Vargas (1928/2017) Born in Bolivia. Has always been very attached to his roots and to pre-Columbian civilizations. In 1960 he moved to Madrid where he studied at the SanFernando Academy. In 1962 he moved to France. Vargas always paints on wood panels because he finds it to be the best medium for the resinous pigments he uses. His dazzling glaze painting is a long process requiring more than 60 successive operations with careful polishing before obtaining the luminosity and transparency that are the essential elements of his works.
