Oil on hardboard 27 cm x 22 cm sold with its frame 39 cm x 33 cm signed top right Maurice Blanchardet representing a village animated by 2 characters. Sold with invoice-certificate. Perfect condition. Painter. Montmartre rue Berthe January 14, 1903 - place du Tertre December 31, 1969. Two periods, the first quite close to the Nabis, then, after the second war, very naive and very colorful. Regular at Pierre Manière's restaurant, rue Caulaincourt with Mac Orlan and Marcel Aymé. Until 1947, he lived at 58, rue Caulaincourt, then at 13, place du Tertre with his third companion Ginette Mussel, and this until his death in 1969. The couple, although very united, is famous for their violent domestic scenes whose outbursts reach as far as the place du Tertre. In 1943, Blanchard was part of the “la Chignolle” fanfare created by Gen Paul. In 1946, at the Société Art et Humour, he introduced François Billetdoux. This was the time when he exhibited frequently in Sweden. In 1949, he participated in the exhibition organized by Serge, the circus historian, at the Verseau de Montmartre, 69 rue Caulaincourt, with the painters Boyer, Raoul Dufy, Gen Paul, Clavé and d'Esparbès. At the same address, the Alexandre gallery exhibited him in 1953 with Picasso, Gen Paul, Naly, Brayer and d'Esparbès. In 1963 and 1964, he exhibited at the “Salon de Toile”, a salon created by Pierre Labric in the 1920s. A regular at the “Grenier” at 7, rue du Mont Cenis, the owner Fred Bretonnière had him make painted plates, some of which were offered to the winners of each stage of the 1965 Tour de France. Once again, he took part in the Salon de Toile, this time at the Moulin-Rouge in 1966, then in the 16th Salon de Toile, at André Roussard in 1968.
